Tonight we ate dinner at the Bishop’s home. Bishop is called to lead the congregation in a certain district or area. His home has a beautiful view. When you walk into their home, all you see is the ocean. They had a lanai (porch) and it was large enough to fit about 20 people and the sound of waves crashing was priceless.
Dinner was amazing. We had fluffy Brazilian rice and beans, cucumber and tomato salad, and steaks. I can not forget about the steaks and the grilled pineapple. Even if I was so full, I could not pass up the grilled pineapple. They had put some brown sugar glaze on the pineapples while they were on the grill. It was just yummy. The view and the vibe of sitting outside on the lanai makes all the difference. The family hosting and making dinner are from Brazil, so they know how to cook delicious food.
What is your favorite Brazilian food?
My brother in law is trying to get his Eagle Scout project done before he turns 18. Eagle Scout project has to be done before a scout turns 18. So 6 days before his 18th birthday, he organized a service project. His service project was to clean up a green house over at Keehi Memorial Lagoon.
So this past Saturday, we went to Keehi Memorial Lagoon. Since living in Laie, we have to think twice about planning our time in town because of the drive. I know driving an hour to a place and another hour back home isn’t a lot for other people. For people living in Hawai’i, driving an hour is a long time. In all honesty, I sometimes enjoy having the luxury of living the country to go into the city.
Keehi Memorial Lagoon is actually a really pretty place, and I’ve never been to this place before. This place has different venues for parties and the landscape is well kept. While the men were putting up the lumber, I took a walk to look around and took some pictures. The landscape is beautiful and it was a nice day in general. The trade winds picked up, so it’s not as humid during the day.
Are you an Eagle Scout?
North Shore Tacos
I know I have written a review on this restaurant but it was on our way back home to Laie. North Shore Tacos is located in Hauula. While my husband was driving back home, he asked where should we have dinner. This question totally helped me wake up from on drive back home. Long car rides are just soothing, and I tend to fall asleep even if the car rides is 20 minutes or more.
So this time I decided to try the Nachos. I got the shredded chicken nachos. It was not my favorite. I guess I felt like there was not a lot of chicken on the nachos. I’m use to cheese being more creamy and not so much of a solid on chips. It just seemed like a clump of cheese on chips.
My stomach and back area has improved so much from when I stated. Its been about 9 days since my first dosage. I did have some red flare ups on my hands. I think its because I stopped using topical steroids. I usually used topical steroids on my hands, because they can get bad. My face does feel a little better, but I do have some dry or flaky areas on my face and arms. I feel like my skin has a strong barrier. So before if I would scratch, I would easily be able to open up my skin but now its not so sensitive.
Those who are looking into starting Dupixent. I would say to at least try and see the difference yourself. Each person has a different but so the experience will be different. For my situation, I did try everything in order to have smooth skin. So this is my last resort and its definitely working. I still feel eating well determines how your skin reacts. I’m not so strict on not eating dairy or meat since being on Dupixent, but I think the reason why there a flare up on my hand, is probably because I’ve been eating dairy.
I’ve been feeling a little more confident on wearing short sleeve shirts. I would always wear shirts that had a 3/4 sleeves or more. I use to have red blotches or dry skin on my arms, but now my skin is becoming more smooth. I’m hoping my skin tone on my arms even out in the future.
Are you on Dupixent? How is you skin been on Dupixent? Or do you have a friend who has eczema?
